If you set up a Group Space, all content will be viewed by all the Space members. However, you might want to speak to a member privately. Your Space members might also want to speak to each other privately. You can then use message them using Direct Messages.
To select a member you’d like to speak to privately, view your members, either by going to your Space name and View members. Find the member you’d like to speak to private and select Chat. You can also find messages in your Member Directory. Click on a member and go to Send Message.
You can view and respond to your conversations at the bottom of the screen, go to Messages. You can then create a New post and record a video, type a text prompt, or record a voice recording. The layout will default to the Chat Layout.
1:1 Space
If you set up a 1:1 Space then all engagement will happen using Direct Messages as all the content in the Hubs will be view/read only.
You can also set up small private groups of members. These can be used like breakout rooms or simply to discuss topics in small groups.
Converting a Direct Message into a Private Group
You might like to add members to your Direct Message and thereby make it a Private Group. To do that go to the Conversation settings (top right corner) and Add participants to the conversation.
